IE6 Transparent PNG Bug

I was just showing a friend the Quisition website on their machine (Windows XP with IE6) and noticed the background is non-white.

I vaguely remember reading about IE6 having a problem with transparent PNGs but until now it hasn't been something I've needed to worry about.

I guess the solution is to go back to Illustrator CS2 and make a white background version.

To correct this IE bug I use the sleight.js module (available from http://courses.washington.edu/englhtml/engl382/javascripts.html look at the second point about it).

It's quite easy to use as you just need to include it in your web page once. That's all.

Hey James,

I'm just noticing this post from a while back. Never seen the link provided by Lior, but Dean Edwards has a fix for this as part of his 'IE7' project >> http://dean.edwards.name/ie7

I have the same problem with MathTran: http://www.mathtran.org, and 'fixed' it by not serving transparent PNGs. This is something I need to go back to sometime. Perhaps I'll take a look at Quistion and see what you're doing now.

For those of you thinking that if they implement this it will eliminate some of the waiting and lines…
