I'd heard stories of people getting huge AT&T bills (size, not cost) for their iPhone because AT&T lists every single data transfer session as a line item. Sure enough, when I got my bill today, the envelope was thick and inside was a bill 49 pages long.

This is what Cingular has been doing for as long as I've seen their bills. It seems like one of those things that made sense at one time, & was the easiest thing to do, rather than actually process the data in any way, just dump it onto the bill. Presumably the iphone will make them fix it.
